Interview Setup Instructions
This setup takes up to 15 minutes. Please complete it before your scheduled interview time.
To mitigate cheating, we require a dual-camera setup using your phone as the second camera. Follow these instructions carefully.
Room Preparation
Select a private, quiet room with stable Wi-Fi. Clear your desk of all papers, extra monitors, tablets, and unauthorized electronics. Ensure the room is well-lit so your workspace is clearly visible.
Phone Battery
Video streaming drains battery quickly. Charge your phone beforehand or keep it plugged in during the interview.
Phone Placement
- Distance: Place your phone 3 to 4 feet away from your chair.
- Angle: Position the phone to your side and slightly behind you, at roughly a 4 o’clock or 8 o’clock position relative to where you are sitting.
- Field of View: The smartphone camera must capture a specific frame that includes three items simultaneously. It must show your (1) computer screen, (2) your hands on the keyboard, and (3) the side of your face.
- Stability: Use a tripod or prop the phone against a stable object such as a stack of books. Ensure it will not fall or shift during the interview.
Phone Audio Settings
To prevent echo, you must disable audio on your phone:
- Mute your phone’s volume: Turn the volume all the way down so you do not hear call audio through your phone speakers.
- Mute your phone’s microphone: In Google Meet on your phone, tap the microphone icon to mute. Keep it muted for the entire interview.
Use only your computer’s microphone and speakers (or headphones) for audio.
Joining the Interview
Join the Google Meet link from both your phone and your computer. Both camera views must be visible throughout the meeting. The interview will be recorded.
